New Year's Six were definitely not intriguing games as they played out, except for 1/2 of OU vs Clemson. But that was clear who the best team was from the middle of the first quarter on.
No dominant teams this year. Bama's defense got better and better as the year went on, and their offense became multidimensional vs Mich St. So we'll have a pretty good title game I believe.
TCU-Oregon might have been good except for police having to get involved in San Antonio again. Happened to Texas the last time they were in SA too....wonder what causes this crap to happen?
Of all the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day games, the one I enjoyed the most was UH beating up on FSU. Just because it's a nonPower 5 team with the hot new coach beating up on a big time program. Remember when that was Urban Meyer's Utah team showing up their opponents in a couple of years' bowl games?
I enjoyed the Baylor UNC game because BU rolled out a successful offense that was not what anyone expected. UCLA-Nebraska was a fun game, with the Huskers making their comeback. Va Tech and Tulsa had zero defense, but seeing Beamer's team hold on and win that one was fun, when I was sitting on the sofa in front of a fire in Winter Park CO at 8 degrees....it had been -11 that morning. Same for Duke-Indiana at basically the same time. I was going back and forth between those two games, and looking forward to more good games....exciting at least, not necessarily good football.
But the matchups have gone south for the winter...all the way to Antartica!!! Just no good matchups since really, except Wash St-Miami.
