5 games yesterday....
Michigan failure against South Carolina was classic...how they didn't win that game I don't understand. But 5 turnovers in one half pretty well spells it out.
Notre Dame's big play to beat LSU was tough for the Tigers to handle, as it appeared they would win this game. Defensive struggle. Neither team had an offense for most of the game. Boykin's big play after the one handed catch provided lots of highlight reel stuff though. And basically all the scoring is in the 4th quarter.
The highlight of Scott Frost and UCF beating Auburn was something to behold. What a glorious finish to a cinderella season for the Knights. Great job Frost and to all your players. They just knew they could win this game, and went out and did it. Congrats to UCF!!!
Another ping pong match with it looking like no defense showed up in the first playoff game. Neither team had a defense in the first half. Mayfield and his guys did all they could to put the game away, but after half time, UGa's defense stymied the Sooners though. Missed opportunities abound. Then OU makes a big defensive play and Parker runs it back for a score...a big one.
Chubb and Michel, along with clutch throws by Fromm were classic though. They knew they could find the seams on OU's defense and did so. Finally, in the 2nd OT, Michel puts it away. 5 TDs from the RBs, rushing, plus one by Michel receiving....145 and 181 rushing for UGa RBs and 201 for Anderson for OU.....Good to see UGa back
Bama's win is, in my mind, a classic Bama defensive win, but also very tainted. First two TDs both should have been called back. 2 holding calls not made on Ridley's TD and as pointed out big time on the big boy TD, a huge offensive pass interference call not made. The third TD comes one play later after the KO on a pick six. If I were Clemson, I'd be making sure the officials who blew these calls got their heads chopped off. Would Bama have scored anyway, even after the penalties? Likely yes, at least once. And likely at least a FG on the other one. But in a big game, you never know. Too bad the officials are the ones that end up deciding the 2nd finalist in the championship game.
Bama vs UGa will be a great game. Bama has a better shot of stopping the UGa running game than OU. But Clemson would have also had that shot. The UGa offensive balance though will be a lot harder for Bama to handle than Clemson was.
Looking forward to next Monday. Just wishing they could replay from the missed calls and see what would have happened last night
