First, UH will get the votes of the Texas schools to get into the XII. Stillwater OSU has already said they are against it and suspect OU feels the same way. They don't want another school recruiting well in the Houston complex, and they figure Herman will be hired somewhere else after this year.
I thought Mayfield was in trouble a lot in the 2nd half, with very pedestrian OL play. I don't think that defense at OU will hold up to THE OSU attack (Buckeyes). They got exposed big time Saturday
A&M's defense showed well except for a 3 or 4 minute stretch of the 4th quarter. Props to the Ags. When the game got tied, I thought they'd lose like Texas lost games so much last year
LSU, what can I say. I really thought that, even though they still don't have a QB, they'd at least have some sort of offensive effort. That was putrid
Agree about the UNC effort, and the put Southern Cal's 2nd through 4th quarters there with it.
Clemson was lucky, but their defense kept Auburn off balance a lot. We'll see whether Auburn has any game time abilities as they go through their schedule this year. They are hugely talented. But they were really inconsistent offensively. Was that Clemson? I tend to think it must have been. But we'll see
Mayfield is out of the Heisman Race. Fournette will be because he has no support. Nick Chubb and the guy playing tonight, Dalvin Cook, would have to go to the front for me, along with Ian McCaffrey, based on what I see early
And for the Horns, it was a lot of fun, a lot of energy on that field. Texas moved the ball for over 500 yards against the Irish, and had an 80+ yard TD pass dropped in the first quarter. Kizer brought the Irish back hard late in the third quarter and early fourth. He did everything he could to win that game. I might should add him to that Heisman list. He's a much bigger threat than Zaire in my mind.
And for Texas, when the extra point fiasco happened, it could have easily been another last minute way to lose a ball game. But credit to these kids, in spite of some real problems late in the game, bad snaps, penalties etc, they managed to win. The 2 Texas punishing running backs, Foreman and Warren, and the 260 lb Swoopes 18 wheeler package, are going to be really hard to deal with for opponents in the 4th quarters of games this season.
I'm excited to go back and watch the replay of the game. From the stands, it was something!! And largest crowd ever at DKR. Plus they honored the 2005 national champions and Mack Brown, during the halftime
Now bring on FSU and Ole Miss. Should be a great way to finish off the first weekend of the CFB season. It's been a hell of a weekend
