The traveling and carrying thing is what people who don't watch the game on a regular basis bitch about. Those that watch it all the time know that is completely overblown. Also, the continuation thing is a RULE, if you don't like it, that's one thing, but it's not like it's a rule only for players averaging 20 PPG.
Also, it isn't consistent from star to star if you want to say there are different rules for different players. For example, Dirk can have a game where he gets over 20 FTs, and then the next game have 3. That's not consistent, and he's a first team all-NBA MVP caliber player. The game isn't perfect by any means, but that doesn't make it illegitimate.
Honestly, do you really think David Stern and his cronies get together every morning and decides who wins and who loses...who gets the calls in each game....which players are going to be called for Tech's? I mean that's just asinine to assume the game is illegitimate.
As if every baseball player gives full effort over 162 games. Is that sport illegitimate as well? For every Vince Carter, there is a Kobe Bryant who never wants to lose any game. Of course there are lazy players, but that goes for EVERY sport.
