This is where it gets really confusing to me. Why call a "throw away" to run out the clock if you think there is any chance that CMU could get extra time? Okie State acted like a team that knew they just had to get the clock to 0:00. I immediately thought of Florida State doing the EXACT same thing to Okie State in 2014 on 4th down to end that game. Jameis threw the ball through the end zone without a receiver anywhere nearby. Okie State has seen this play in this exact scenario before.
What I don't know is if the replay officials can communicate the rule to the officials on the field, if they could have fixed it or not.
I'm getting tired of this specific argument, though, because it seems that somehow Central Michigan being a MAC/G5 team is why this is a controversy, when that's not the reality at all, they are just the team that happened to be in this particular game. Just throw away the team names and conference affiliations and call it "Team A" and "Team B". Louisville got 0 first place votes this week. Everybody gets disrespected at some point or another.
